Let My People Grow
With legalization of marijuana in 21-States, and hemp made federally legal through the 2014 farm bill, we wish to see Native people grow their own, for family and community use. We support tribal policies which legalize and promote tribal farmers to grow hemp and cannabis. We also support state legalization of marijuana and hemp, and support the growth of tribal farmers, and integrated policies for health, well being and economics. Specifically, we support the right of tribal families and tribal farmers to grow hemp and cannabis and encourage tribes and states to protect the farmer. This supports tribal members owning and operating their own marijuana dispensaries.
We oppose the ownership of the cannabis and hemp economy by large corporate interests, as this will continue the theft of the tribal economy. Instead, we see hemp and cannabis as an opportunity to restore healthy lands, protect water, reduce carbon and create well being in our tribal nations as a part of an integrated strategy for restorative economics.
Let My People Grow supports cannabis legalization policies which:
Allow farmers to produce, process and sell quality cannabis products to our communities, families, customers and the public.
Protect and invest in tribal farmers to ensure the integrity of their production, and to allow the relationship between farmers, growers and customers to flourish.
Supports equity in the cannabis industry to secure dispensary licenses for people of color and Indigenous people, and necessary support for the development of those dispensaries.
Supports all facets of the development of the tribal hemp industry, and supports farmers and communities to vertically own the hemp industry.
Why? Because that’s what justice looks like, and that’s the New Green Revolution.
